How do I start a free SAT prep after school class? HELP CC MEMBERS

I'm a junior in high school and have done relatively well in the SATs(compared to the ppl in my school anyways) because I'm good at learning things by reading books without the help of a teacher. However, I have noticed that most of the students in my school can't do that. They need a teacher to teach them the concepts and most them can't afford tutoring. As a result, they end up with a sub-1200 SAT score and go to community college (if even). I know I can help them by running a free after school SAT prep class and I was wondering if you guys would give me advice, suggestions, or comments?
Thanks

At my school, the procedure is to find an advisor (preferably teacher) who will oversee things. Then get the idea approved by the principal.

What a great idea! The other poster’s idea is a good one, since you’ll definitely need school support to do it. You might try seeking out some SAT tutors and/or companies in your area and see if they’ll donate some of their time to help you, either by lesson planning or coming in to teach a class. You might also talk to charities or churches about contributing materials, or check out this website [The College Bound Collection](http://web.me.com/hdberk/Site/Home.html) which might be a resource for getting materials donated. Good luck!

This is a wonderful idea. See if you can find a good local SAT prep company in your area to help you set this up. I know that if a student approached me with this idea I would give my full support and donation of my time. I would give free materials and help the tutors implement my methods. What I would get in return is pretty obvious - exposure to my products and services. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Haha! I started one in my high school but I stopped because I just didn’t have the time to help those people with their scores. Maybe in the summer or something… idk.

I’ve wanted to do this for a while. I think I’m going to do it next year :)
