I am looking for advice for what to major and minor in, and how exactly majors and minors work… I would really like to major in sociology just because it’s my passion, but my ultimate career goal is to become a paralegal. Can I minor in something outside of my field? Would a major in sociology and minor(including a certification) in paralegal studies even work out? Advice please… how difficult would it be to go on to law school with a sociology major if I became a paralegal and decided that law school was my dream…
Easy. Pre-law is not a major. Get good grades and do well on the LSAT, and you can go to law school.
You can major in sociology and then get a paralegal certificate after graduating college (or in college, if you go to one of the schools that has paralegal certification).
Yes, you can minor in something outside your field. That could be anything your college offers - math, chemistry, history, art, music, whatever. The only limitations are going to be scheduling and rules that are specific to your college.
Lots of lawyers were sociology majors in college. It’s totally possible to major in sociology and go to law school.
