How do Midd admissions folk view the SAT Writing section?

So, naturally I get an 800 in a section that most colleges don't even consider... Great...

I know that a lot of big universities don't consider it, but I'd think that smaller schools like Middlebury would be more open to the Writing section. Does anyone know for sure how Midd views it? Does it carry equal weight as the other sections? Does it carry less? Does it carry any weight?

My other scores are blah--they're alright, but it's that 800 that's bringing my total (2080) well within the middle 50% for Middlebury. Even if you don't know for certain, any insight would be appreciated. I emailed the admissions today, so obviously I can't expect a response for a while.

What do you all think?

I understand (from their info session on campus) that really good grades in high school taking the toughest courses which are offered is the #1 thing that they look at. Who knows what the admissions committee is looking for at Midd, but my guess is that since SAT Subject tests (no writing component here) will suffice for their testing requirements that they do not weigh the writing section very heavily. If I were you I would get the Math and Critical Reading components of your SAT up into the 1400-1500 range AND have great grades AND a serious hook if you want admission. Don’t rely just on the 800 on the writing to get you in and that probably will not overcome your low scores on the other sections.

Wow, I think that’s great. College is all about learning to communicate in writing, esp a place like Midd. I think you should try the ACT, because that shows you are better at using all parts of your brain than taking standardized tests.
Or as GDM says, just retake the SAT and submit both sets. You will likely score 40-50 points higher and that will get you there.
