Does Emory consider the writing section of the SAT, or is it just the 1600 scale they consider? BY FAR my best section was writing, so I'm hoping they use the 2400 scale! Thanks!

Writing section not recorded on CDS....not considered IMO

I've heard it's looked at, but they care mostly about the math/CR.. which is good for me, considering my writing sucked..

According to two college counselors I talked to at Oxford, neither Oxford or Emory looks at writing; they only compile the information and in a few years they'll see how well writing scores correlate with successful students. They both said not to worry much about the score, as they'll see it, but not make decisions on it.

I never bothered asking an Emory College counselor, but I'd imagine the Oxford ones would be well-informed.

I'm wondering though: when you say "BY FAR better", it sounds as if your other scores were pretty low. By far implies at least a couple hundred points lower, and to be honest a couple hundred points off even a 800 isn't too competitive at Emory. So really for 90% of applicants, their scores aren't going to be that varied across all three sections.

edit: I saw your SAT scores in another thread; 70 points isn't my idea of "by far", but your scores are definitely not going to exclude you from admission.
