lets say i have a job that is every day from 8-6 how many classes can i take in the fall? also, how would i even study? im just curious how you can have a job and go to school at the same time (im assuming your supposed to work every day and a couple hours)

Well just think about it... you work 8-6 then you would probably go to class around 6:30-7 for around 3 hours M-Th which means you'd get home around 10-10:30 (or at least this is how long classes in my CC are once a week). Assuming you take 12 units a semester, where exactly do you find the time to study and do homework? You can't just go to class everyday expecting you'll get a good grade because you won't.

Aren't you just graduating high school? Why do you feel the need to work full-time? Are you dependent?

i dont want to work full time im just not sure is business related jobs would give short hours and how it would work...basically i feel that the only jobs flexible with school are fast food chains and cheap places

I know it's tough finding the right job that's also flexible but I've been told many times here that having connections is always beneficial. I suggest you ask around people you know if there might be something out there for you that would also fit your schedule. Other than that, just keep looking around since opportunities will always show themselves...

off topic but the only thing im worried about for haas is not being able to find that special job/internship/volunteer work but im just hoping is because im thinking ahead...im also afraid because im not eligible to join the clubs i want to join yet and it might take until the 2nd fall so im hoping that wont affect me(like haas would see me as joining and not how long ive been in it)

try finding a job on campus. they're very understanding about flexible hours, in regards to school. if you get a district job, it pays the best and they give you vacation days, sick days and (for me at least) life insurance.

as for your night classes, i suggest you check your CC's night class schedule.

yes but these campus jobs wont look good for haas, correct me if im wrong

What do you mean you're not eligible to join clubs? I know I asked if there was some sort of unit/gpa requirement to join clubs and I was told there wasn't. Unless, that is, you're talking about honor clubs like AGS. Is that what you're talking about?

I worked full time- in an adult job and went to school, sometimes full time sometimes not.

You do homework on weekends and you learn to live on 4 hours of sleep if needed or no sleep.

and with an 8 hour schedule and 1 hour lunch break you would be working 9-6 or 8-5, or in my case i was lucky to work 6-2 or 7-3.

aside from working at some big financial company, i don't see what would "look good to haas."

i was under the impression that you needed money, not to look good. work in general, while getting a 4.0 at a CC, I imagine it will look good to Haas.

if you have two years at CC, I suggest you do an internship or work full time over summer, taking two or three classes. you just got to do what you can.

Malishka, did you get into Haas? If so, what year?

well first, i wanted to join AS(student gov) and they said we already elected for fall...and in my head im like wth? how is this normal for new coming students when most of them havent even decided to come to cc yet...does every new comer miss a year of as(when we only have 2 years)...then i dont know which clubs i asked for but they said i had to have the gpa and i need to apply which is no guarantee...im kind of thinking negative and hope things will fall into place

Hrm, haven't heard of that before... just curious but what CC do you go to?

Glendale Community College

Anyone know if it's typical of student gov to already elect before incoming freshmen are even given a chance?

I didnt even apply to Cal- had no interest. My point was that work and CC are doable.

My CC elects student government B4 fall. But you can also vote online so i guess if as a freshmen you went in the summer you could vote online that summer.

Interesting... so they typically do all the voting and all that during summer school?

My school (regular semester system) held elections two weeks ago.

I think they elect for different things at different points in the term, some things in the summer, some in the fall, some in spring, sort of to give everyone a chance to participate, i know we do not have just 1 election. The big election for Pres/VP is not in the summer- i think it was also roughly two weeks ago- sometime in the spring. I do not attend my CC - i just take an online class there for fun so i get random emails about ASG.

Just curious but how are people normally nominated for pres, vp, etc. and what is the best way to garner the most votes for election? Charisma? Haha...
