Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has experience with OOS units transferring to either UCI, UCLA< or Berkeley.

Were you able to transfer all the units over from a OOS four yr school to the UC system?

How did they affect your cumulative GPA when mixed with community college course work?

Would a "C-" transfer to UC as credits?

How many total units can I bring in to UC? It states cc can bring max of 70 and four yr can transfer in a total 80..but what if you have a combination of them?

There are two different things that happen when you apply for OOS transfer to the UCs. If the UCs had no prior applicants from your college, then the admissions office does a quick evaluation of your coursework from scratch and determine which courses are UC-transferable, then the admission evaluation proceeds based on that evaluation.

Once you are admitted, the registrar’s office does an official evaluation of your coursework and determine which courses are transferable. This is the official coursework evaluation and the result may differ from what the admissions office determined.

Your GPA will remain separate from CC, your OOS college, and the UC. The only time they may be calculated together is if you are applying to graduate school.

If your OOS college counts C- as a 1.7 instead of a 2.0, then the course will not be counted as satisfying a requirement. However, the units will count toward the 60 minimum unit requirement.

There is a maximum unit cap for OOS transfers. For more information, see http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/files/ETS10_TransferQA_final.pdf, page 14.
