How do people get straight As?

Haha I'm type 4. Material comes really easy and blows off the work until the hour before or during passing time.

Oh snap, that's me. I literally put things off until the last possible minute.

^^ Yay I'm not alone. =].

Procrastinators rule =].

I was a type 4 last year. haha

The only hard thing about classes is turning in the homework. So if you complete all your homework than most likely you will know the material (if you didn't already know it before) and your grade will naturally be stronger.

Chaos:

Ah, yes, but my suggestion was different. I do the homework so that there is physical evidence of it... but the content is complete gibberish.

One of my answers on an APES problem set was: the uranium atom then splits into one part monkey beans, one part cheez-doodle, and one part brass Russian lamp. They all then do the hokey-pokey and turn themselves around.

The teacher looks at the name, sees some words, and checks it off. Voila. Works like a charm. As long as you continue getting great grades on tests, this will work. In fact, at some point, the teachers even start becoming biased when grading my tests, and automatically award me points. Make a big impression early on, and it's smooth sailing for the rest of the year.

Wow. I sound like such a jerk =P

Naturally brilliant or study a lot or have lazy teachers

I'm number two.
I wish I were number 0. I really like that number.

It's hard to pull straight As in my school--you actually have to work because the teachers collect and then check everything really carefully. Ugh. I highly dislike homework. School is over though! I'm so excited!

type 4.
one of my finals is tomorrow afternoon.
i'm studying tomorrow morning during school (normal halfday).
:)

I took classes that interested me. If a class didn't interest me, I bit the bullet and made the best of it. I learned, remembered, and (usually) understood things easily because I'm intelligent, and I did my work conscientiously, and developed a good relationship with my teachers by being trustworthy, courteous, and (if I felt like it) friendly. Teachers appreciate students with whom they can converse intelligently. Sometimes all they need is that a student listen to them in class, or just make an attempt to learn what they're trying to teach, or say "See you Monday" or "Have a nice weekend" on Friday at the end of the period. I don't know. Little things can make a big difference.

And I'm not being conniving. I was always sincere in my relationships with teachers. Even ones whose classes I hated-- I didn't take it out on the teacher just because his/her teaching style didn't agree with me. I tried to see my teachers as people, not just teachers. I looked for the good side. Same thing as with classes. Make the best of it.

Native intelligence helps. In fact, sometimes it's the only honest way to get an A. That and a knack for learning. I'm lucky enough to have both. They served me well.

I depends on if your school has ridiculous grade inflation like mine.

Sadly, I got 1 A- because my math teacher forced us to do the homework when it was pointless and easy and I didn't do it. I usually procrastinate, and blow everything off to the end. Then, i usually just decide not to study, and do fine.

Do what I do: Study hard. Do all work. Participate in class. Get a good reputation around teachers.

And ta-da! Straight A's! :)
Makes it sound easy!

Type 4 here! I maintain my 4.0 through a very well thought-out process:

I have an open hour 1st period, during which I study and do my homework for history (second period)
Third period is Spanish, which I'm almost fluent at (not a native speaker though) so during that I study and do homework for English.
During reading time in English I study/do homework for chemistry.
The last 20 minutes of chemistry, after I finish the work early, are spent doing my precalc homework.

Leaving me afterschool hours completely free! This solves two problems 1) the problem of not having a social life and 2) the problem of being bored out of my mind during my classes.

Hahah the other girl with a 4.0 in my school (we have no W GPAs) hates me because she gets the same grades while actually doing homework outside of school. Suckeeer. If only she knew my system. ;)

I have a somewhat similar system too! I just do all my SAT & SAT II & AP studying during my math class. It amazes me how my teacher still likes me, since I hardly ever do anything in that class. Ofcourse, I do the homework and do well on the tests, but what teacher would like a student who never DID anything really. Hahaha. It still continues to puzzle me :)

I actually tried freshman, sophomore and part of junior year.

Gradually I started slacking, but kept the mindset that I would get it together (thus the hard classes), but I really never got back to being the student I was, but I did develop a system that worked out quite well.

I took AP and honors classes, copied the hw (all teachers left it out so we could check our answers), then do a study group with my other slacker friends the day beforse the test This usually meant that I would get a pretty decent grade on the test, add this to the hw that I "did", the group quizzes in which I leeched off my group, and the fact that AP courses are curved heavily, and I could pretty easily pull off an A.

As for my honors courses, it was pretty much all effort based. Take honors english for example. We would get assigned books to read, and then discuss them in class. Honestly, I didn't read a single one the entire year, just sparknoted them. The best part was that discussions were all voluntary, and the tests were all essays. You could write down the most vague and arbitrary thing without any supporting evidence, and still pull off an easy A.

I'm quite aware that this system will most likely not work next year, but I'm hoping that I'll be able to get back into it and find some motivation actually try. After all from what I hear, umich engineering is "easy to get in, hard to get out"

just do it.......if your not, then you must not really be trying, b/c only you decide what grades you get. so......just do it.

I'm type 6:

Use my 40 minute study hall in 3rd period to do most of my homework. And next year, I have a free period 3 in quarter 1! And that's it for the whole year!

5W337!

Luckily, next year I'll have a calc, stats, chem, and french teachers who already love me because a) they love my brother and b) they already know me personally (especially calc and chem). Hopefully that'll help. Also, since I'm taking calc over the summer hopefully the calc teacher likes me even more since I will already know the whole course (plan on taking calc 2 during spring semester).

just study and do homework... no 24/7 thing either... i watch t.v. a lot, i don't read much, but i do not go into a test w/o studying to my fullest. even if it is a 1day cramming session, i cram all i can. also ALWAYS do homework. it is an easy 100.

i am type 2/4--i procrastinate alot

if you're smart you need to put in zero effort
