I heard from my friend that most of NYU's social life revolves around those two. But i'm 18, which is legal drinking age in Canada, but not at NYC :(

what else do ppl do then?

clubbing is big in NYC, very big--in many places you only have to be 18. bars are a different story, but who says you need a bar in order to drink?

the nightlife of NYC is astounding. It really is the city that never sleeps. bars and clubs are just one way to get #^%&'ed up on the weekends lol.

your best bet is to find a friend or relative who's over 21 and who resembles you, and get an old ID of theirs. i'm using my brother's, for example. i don't suggest buying a fake, because most of the time they suck and the bouncers will recognize them and take them away. after that, just act confident and you won't get rejected from bars/clubs

The bars on bleeker by laguardia are usually easy for anyone to get into. Also if you go early enough to the bars the bouncer isn't even there yet. Can you tell I was younger when I lived there ;)?

Is this really intelligent information to be posted here?

the guy asked a legitimate question, and people are giving honest answers. the truth is that the bars and clubs in the downtown area are packed with people who are under 21. i've even seen high school-age kids from my town at some of the nightclubs in midtown. they get in with phony id's. its the truth. i don't think its smart for people to do that, though. personally, i've cut down on my drinking tremendously since freshman year, because i don't like the way it makes me feel. and i only go clubbing once or twice a semester, because i think those places are shady. but the club and bar scene is an important part of the nyu experience, like it or not

I was actually not referring to the actual information provided but rather to the fact that it was provided on an open, online forum where, despite claims of anonymity, anything can be traced back to you. Of course people under 21 drink, and you certainly don't have to be in a bar to do it.

cool2bars, nobody cares enough to trace this stuff back for underaged drinking that couldn't be proven anyway.
