How do schools tell you your off the waitlist.

Sorry for so many threads today, but how does exeter tell you your off the waitlist

I am pretty positive that the schools will e-mail you if you are off the waitlist. Same thing would happen if they are going to e-mail you saying that they are not going to take any more applicants off the waitlist.

Best of luck, Anon12!

Many send status reports and notifications by letter throughout the summer.

Would they send you an e-mail also on the 10th

Well, students who were accepted don’t have to respond until April 10th, so, it might be a while…

If a school goes to the waitlist, I think admissions officers place a telephone call to the parents. At least, I know families who received phone calls from schools in previous years, not emails (after all, you never know if an email’s been received.) As I recall, this school (not Exeter) needed an answer within a short period of time.

Right, some students have gotten off waitlists within a few days of March 10. Others have gotten off in the summer (after deposits were placed at other schools). It’s hard to tell. There are several major time periods for attrition according to my conversations with one of the HADES schools:

right after March 10 when students who have a clear first choice, decline the others.

right after April deposits are due

May when returning parents are asked to sign contracts

late summer when returning parents have to start paying tuition.

Two years ago we received a telephone call asking if we were interested in coming off the waitlist. It was a few weeks after April 10th, we had already signed the contract and paid our deposit at another school so there was no going back.

How can you come off the waitlist right after March 10, if you are not supposed to communicate before March 15? (at least that’s what my email said)

bump for this year!!!

Loomis Chaffee contacted me over the phone!

Okay, so apparently I’m an anomaly, but I’m hoping someone has to information about Episcopal waitlists…?
