Yup, we just pay the $80 something dollars for each exam. Sucks. :(

i paid $86 per test, and have taken 8 test so far, going to take another 8 this year.

yepp basically wrote a check for $430 and gave it to the banker

So much for the “non-profit organization” moniker.

we have to pay the $86 for each test, but are reimbursed by the county if we get a 3 or higher. which is nice.
and, so far as i know, no one in the county has ever self-studied for an AP. that’s not what we do here.

We’ve paid for all of D’s tests. $1,118.00 over 3 years. Painful. Also paid for PSAT freshman and sophomore year. Only paid for the SAT once- but 4 subject tests.

I paid $54 for each of my tests.

At my school, each test is just $54 for EVERYONE, and $5 for the students with reduced/free lunch. I suppose the school or the district covers the other $32.

Like a few other people on here said… in Florida it is all paid for. Any AP tests, as well as PSAT’s are all free to students. This also means that more people take AP classes since it doesn’t cost us anything.

I live in PA and we have to pay the full price for every test unless you have the lunch thing. It’s interesting that some schools pay, because our district is pretty rich and we have to pay full price. Maybe because so many of our students do APs, it would be too big of an expense.

my school’s pretty evil - we have to $100 for most AP’s and 120 for Chinese/Japanese. They charge a processing fee!!! -.-

it comes straight out of my pocket.

At our school, the student have to pay in full, unless he/she shows financial difficulties, but even then, he/she still has to pay almost the whole fee.

We have to pay $76 a test, but this year the school put in a policy where they pay for your test if you score a 3 or above as long as you took the class. So instead of paying $304 for four exams my parents are only going to have to pay $76 for my self study.

My &$%# school makes us pay $90 for each test unless you have free lunch.

$86 for each test unless you have free/reduced lunch. Then the test is free. I’ll have taken five exams by the time I graduate, and I am only paying for the one I am self-studying this year (AP Psych).

My school (in Canada) makes us pay 120 (CAD dollars) per exam, I think.

I don’t get why they don’t cover it if you self-study. I thought that they should be encouraging people to self-study, expecially if you get a high score on it.

And I feel sorry for the people who have to pay in Sep. It pretty much means that you can’t add/remove exams later in the year. Do you guys get a refund if you opt out afterwards?

In our Public School in NC students pay $86 and if you have free or reduced lunch you can get it for free, but if you really can’t afford the whole fee you can work out something with the school.

$86 a test. Yep. And I’ve not heard of any exceptions in my school. Really really sucks. :(

If you get an A or B in the class 5th six weeks, you only have to pay $28 and the school pays the rest. The school pays it all if you get free or reduced lunch.

My school can probably do this only because such a small fraction of students take AP classes. There were only 13 Juniors taking APs this year.

D’s district pays the full cost of AP tests if you’re enrolled in the AP class. If you self-study or take an online class, you’re on your own.

There are some rumors that, due to the economy, next year the school will pay for only one AP test. I have no idea whether or not that will happen.
