Yeah, I’d like to chime in here that most people at Ivies wear normal clothing–jeans & t-shirts, etc. and not necessarily expensive jeans or t-shirts even. I will also note that I have never seen Abercrombie on campus. For those who dress fashionably, yes, J. Crew, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, etc.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that in my post - the brands I mentioned were not necessarily how “Ivy League” kids dress, but how “rich white” kids dress. There is a difference. Those kids can be found everywhere.

I have stolen Ralph Lauren t-shirts. (I didn’t steal them, my caregiver did.)

Seriously, east coast and west coast kids don’t dress any differently. It’s just a stereotype.

^ well when people say “West Coast” often they’re thinking Californian beaches and kids dressed in summer weather. When people say “East Coast” it’s often referring to the Northeast and they imagine us covered in winter gear. Florida and Vermont are both East Coast states, but the attire is totally different. It depends on climate and economic class more than coast.

The stereotype of Ivy league school is rich, preppy white kids dressed in prep school type clothing, but that’s hardly true…those schools are diverse with all kinds of people.

If you do your research, getting many of these clothes at huge discounts is not that hard to do. If you get most of the cards it’s like 10% off right there in addition to a lot of the sales and coupons they send out + shopping at premium outlets.

Also, the difference between J. Crew/Ralph Lauren and regular clothes is that they are of a much higher quality and the designer label begets a lot of respect, regardless of haters.
