How do they look at the SAT?

Does Northwestern look at it out of 1600 or 2400? I am curious because I have heard people say both, and I have not been able to find a definite answer. Thanks

out of 1600

Yes. Absolutely 1600 scale.

so writing is not considered?

damnnnnn 10

ACT and SAT are weighed the same, right?

While the SAT score is out of 1600, that doesn’t mean NU doesn’t look at Writing. The best analogy I can draw is that its treated like an SAT II (which was the origins of the Writing Section anyway).

In time the SAT will be evaluated out of 2400. In the interim, there simply is not enough data and experience with the Writing to treat like the old standbys of Math and Reading.

Yes, SAT and ACT are basically the same. The scales are not perfect bc ACT has fewer possible scores, but don’t worry about it. Take and report whichever you do better.

I got an 800 in writing; will that still help me?

Huh, really? Probably for the best, since writing tests for very little. (I had an 800 on writing, just fyi, so in before you probably sucked at it).

Way to be modest, arbs.

I bet they look at SAT scores with their eyes. But its possible they use Braille.

“Huh, really? Probably for the best, since writing tests for very little. (I had an 800 on writing, just fyi, so in before you probably sucked at it).”

does this post make any sense? :-/

anyway, i also got an 800 in writing. i hope they do look at it. :(

Yes it does- I was saying the writing section is completely worthless, so its good they don’t look at it. I then also clarify that I’m not saying it’s completely worthless because I didn’t do well on it. I left out the part where I thought that NU did indeed consider it.

The on campus info session clearly states that they do not consider it.
