I know how to deal with persuasive passages like scientific, social, humanity passages, but i dont know how to approach the narrative passages.
I really suck at those
They dont have main ideas or anything. How can I approach them better?

yeah, i was wondering. do you guys read the whole passage, THEN answer the questions? or do you guys go straight for the questions, and then look for the answer after you know what to look for?

do wats comfortable for u.....every1 has a dif. style. I read the passage and then answer.

Yeah, everyone is different so it's hard to say. Some people are fast, attentive readers so they can read the entire pasage through and then go to the questions.

I, however, am not like that so I go back and forth. Read until I have to stop at a certain line, and then answer that question. Keep reading until the next line reference, answer question. I keep doing this until all line reference questions are answered and this usually takes me through the whole passage. Then I go back and answer the main idea or questions referring to the passage as a whole. It seems to work for me for the most part.

^^^
I totally agree. This is what works for me.

u could also try reading MOST of the passage then hit the questions with the line references... u cud read the intro para...couple lines from ea. body para. then read the entire conclusion just to get a solid idea of wats going on...then move the questions as i previoiusly stated...once u've finished the questions with references...move on to the tougher main idea questions..(b/c now u know wat the passage is about).
im trying this method out...i like it cuz it keeps me from reading the passage twice(reading it once thru...then going back and forth), this way i read portions of it at a time & i eventual end up reading the entire passage by the end of the set of questions :D lol.

but i agree with everyone else...there is ALOT of experimentation involved, im gonna keep trying other methods until i find the most comfortable one

I mark all over the booklet. I read it first and summarize each paragraph in a short phrase. Then I'll underline the words mentioned in the questions and read those areas. Then I'll answer each individual question.

wow... do u finish in time??

i do the same thing as liist
i just speed read the passage and try to sum it up in a sentence or two

trust me, this works...
