You should've gotten a clear, solid plastic card-carrier at orientation. It has two slots, one for M-card, one for room key. It also has a little thing built into each side that you can just push up and it'll pop the card halfway out so you don't have to dig for it.

that plastic thing you're talking about is already failing me and i've only had it for just over a week...the blue pushy things don't work all the time and i have to force the m card out.

well you're a transfer student so i guess they didn't give you one...idk where you can buy that...if you have a wallet, i'd just keep it there

I'm using the same card slider thing that I received at orientation over a year ago. It still works for me.

Also, at orientation, they give you a lanyard on which to hang the slider, but no one really wears them. (Besides at orientation... It's your "freshman badge" during that short period, and you're supposed to wear it all the time.) I just keep mine in my purseduring the year, and the lanyard makes the card slider easier to find. :)

If you need a new slider (meaning card holder only... lanyard not included), you can buy one in the MCard Office in the Student Activities Building for $1 or $2. (I don't remember which one it is.)

Yeah, you have key cards for dorm rooms. You have to slide it in, then hit your 4-digit code to enter the room (last 4 digits of SSN by default). You also "need" your card to get into your hall's bathroom, though I know at least my hall rigged it so you didn't need one.

Also, as far as I know you can only get the plastic things at orientation. I forgot to get one at orientation, so I had to have my friend swipe me an extra one at her orientation.
