How do US schools view Canadian curriculum?

In our school, whoever gets an average of 80%+ is considered getting a 4.0 GPA. Does that mean that an 80% in Canada is equivalent to a 90% in US? Is it true that Canadian curriculum is more difficult?

It just occurred to me that I know absolutely nothing about the Canadian school system. I’m about to remedy that.

I too am curious about this. In Canada, 80+ translates into an A, while 90 is required for an A. Can there really be such a discrepancy between marks in two similar countries with similar ethnic populations or is the mark system in the states just easier?

No, in my school 90+ is an A or A- depending on the subject but a 4.0 is 80+ average. I am really confused as well but that’s what my GC told me when I asked.

Hm…that’s very interesting. I’ll have to ask my canadian cousin about this.

lolwuts canada??

At my school, the lowest A is a 92. I wish it was 90. I don’t know much about the Canadian school system.

^It is a country that can barely beat us in a sport they invented.

Jk. Canada drinking age is 18…so who cares about their school system.

EDIT: Just so I post something relevant to the OP, at our school an A is 92.5 (93) and up.

From speaking to some of my Canadian friends, I think Canadian schools rely less on multiple choice when it comes to tests and examinations, which I would think would make it harder for them to get good grades. I don’t know, just my two cents.

Generally, Americans are ignorant. We don’t know what Canadian schools are like. We don’t even know what Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, English, Finish, Dutch, etc., schools are like.

Oh yes we have tons of essays and lots of them are done in class. The requirements are: 2000+ words in 50 minutes. I don’t really know about American system, however.

You can’t say that all American schools are easier than Canadian schools. . . it’s just that our number of stupid people under the age of 18 probably exceeds the population of everyone under the age of 18 in Canada.

I just checked… 80 is actually an A in our school… But the US colleges won’t care about our grading system, right?

I’ve always wondered how it’s possible to get a 40 in Canada and pass the class… but whatever.
