In our school, whoever gets an average of 80%+ is considered getting a 4.0 GPA. Does that mean that an 80% in Canada is equivalent to a 90% in US? Is it true that Canadian curriculum is more difficult?

I had a very good friend who went to school in Rochester until Grade 10, then moved to Alberta and is doing high school here now. He said that he had approximately a 91% average there, but is only getting a 76% now. The curriculums are very, very different.

That being considered, an 80 in Canada is not always a 90 in the US, as the US has some schools far more competitive than the majority of Canadian schools. A 4.0 also isn’t an 80%, at least not in my part of the country. Last I checked, it was an 85% or a 90%

I have the same question. And I’ve heard the rumor that an average of 90% or higher in a Canadian high school is considered 4.0 in the US, but have no idea about the credibility of it.
