My son has been denied or waitlisted at all the schools that he applied to. We called and left messages, sent e-mails to AO's to get some feed back on his application. Unfortunately no one has responded. I see on cc that lot of people are able to get in touch with their AO's either to find out about the waitlist or to get feed back. Is it too early to call them to get feed back? What is the best way to approach this situation?

What we did was to contact our interviewer via email using the same email address that was given to us at the initial interview. My son let him know of his diappointment and continued interest in the school and asked if he could have a phone conversation to talk about how he could improve his application.

If they don’t respond to email, I guess you could always call. If you don’t get a call back, I’d call the Director of Admissions directly and say you would like some feedback if at all possible.

Although difficult to hear, my son said that the feedback was invaluable in helping him in the future. He had already been accepted to other schools and had accepted one offer, so the sting was not as bad, had he no other choices. All in all, don’t be afraid. It pays to be persistent. I know the AO had set up a time to speak with my son, then the time came and went and still no call. I ended up emailing him again asking if we had somehow miscommunicated. It turns out he was busy with a student, but did call us back after 9 pm one night and the call lasted about 15 mintues with some very good feedback with him encouraging my son to reapply.

Thanks a lot redbluegoldgreen.
