Did they actually call you back if you leave a message? I am not talking about when you get accepted, I know they are all super-nice once you are over the fence.

I have been very frustrated by my experience with the AO of this shcool. First of all, they didn't allow me to talk to the director directly, it has to be the interviewer, but the interviewer never picks up the phone and never calls back, emailing was proven not working either. Today, once again, left a message in the morning and the secretary even promised me that she would pass the message, again I waited whole day, no call back.

At the end of day, to save myself a good weekend, I sent an email to the director with the things I wanted to say. This seems the best I can do for now, although I am kind of in doubt he will ever read it.

yeah. i’ve been trying to contact my interviewer but he is not replying or answering. i also finally emailed him and i do not know if he ever got it because there was some important info in that email

Okay, I’ll preface this by saying I’m not an admissions officer and I am not privy to the inner workings of an admissions office . . . Nonetheless, I’d hazard a guess that no one has time for anything during revisit week.

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve had very good luck with some schools and absolutely miserable luck with others. But I’ve tried not to take the bad experiences too much to heart. I know the AOs have been out on vacation about half that time, and the other half of the time they’ve been swamped.

If you have questions that someone else could answer (an academic dean, for example), I’d suggest trying that. If your questions can only be answered by an AO, then be polite but persistent.

Please remember that most of the boarding schools have had revisit days this past week, which means admission officers have been away from their desks all day.

And please recognize that they are trying to answer multiple calls and emails from 100-200 other parents and students, are still wading through waiting lists and students turning them down on top of coordinating revisit days during a normal school year. My daughter is going out tomorrow for her revisits so I know many schools are still busy.

Admissions offices are very tiny compared to the overall school.

Be patient - but if you are not satisfied with the response - maybe that, too, is a sign to look at other choices.

I have to say that on March 12 - one day after being WL at a school, I called a director of admissions and the person ANSWERED HIS OWN PHONE. He knew exactly who I was even before I said my child’s name. Very professional and helpful.

Since then I have been in contact with several people at 2 schools and they have always called me back quickly and have been helpful.

That said, two years ago when my son applied and was WL for FA at a school the person who interviewed us never called me back. Not only after March 10, but not even prior to application deadline. It always took me 2-3 calls to get him to answer. This time, after my son had selected a different school, and the guy still never CB, I called the director, left a voice mail - in it I said the person never called. Director returned my call within an hour. He was not happy that we didn’t get a return call.

In any case, I agree with ExieMITAlum…maybe it’s a sign. It certainly was in my son’s case.
