How do we name our ECs on the Commonapp?

It looks like it lets us select a category from a drop-down list, and then gives us space for hours a week, positions held, and years participated.

But I don't see a blank for the name of the organization or activity...

That angered me when I did it. I just put the name on the line that says something like “details and additional information” or something along those lines.

I hate it, it makes EC’s seem standardized and formulaic… and it’s a terrible format for showing exactly what you did. I want to attach a resume on additional information.

Me too, it is ridiculous. And I want to attach a resume as well, but they say to only do that is you cannot fit the rest on the form, meaning, I am going to have to use the actual form for the large majority of my EC’s, and my most important, since they say you should put them in descending order of importance.

This is…not a very intelligent way of going about this, commonapp. Blehh :(

My Ec’s can’t be simply described, I feel like I would need to elaborate on most through an additiOnal info section.

^^
Wait, you CAN’T use the resume unless you have over 10 ECs? Who has over 10 ECs?..

This is really confusing. How am I supposed to name things like Academic Decathlon, Boy Scouts, and Interact? Saying Community service for Interact is highly misleading and marginalizing…

“My Ec’s can’t be simply described, I feel like I would need to elaborate on most through an additiOnal info section.”

I AGREE 100000%. Commonapp gives you a sentence to describe your EC :(

Yeah, and the thing is we aren’t the first to feel restricted bythe common app… I wonder how

Yeah, and the thing is we aren’t the first to feel restricted bythe common app… I wonder how Others do it, have they tried a complete resume with success?
