At my kids school the guidance counselors put together a "total" packet to send off to the colleges. Should we have the recommendation letter printed off several times with the address of each college at the top or do we simply request it to say "attention admissions" or "to whom it may concern" I don't want to make any more work for the letter writer, but I want to do it right.

Why would you be putting anything? We gave the teachers and counselor a list of the schools we were applying to, stamped and addressed envelopes (with the address or label provided by the college) and forms for the schools and then had the teachers send in the recommendations. The addresses were all “Office of Admissions” or something similar.

It seems that many students and parents get to read the recs written by teachers and GCs but that is not the norm in our school. If I remember correctly, Ss signed waivers.
They gave each teacher and GC addressed, stamped envelopes and that was it. We did not get to see what was in the letters, much less decide to whom and how they should be addressed!
