I’m in the same boat you are. Second semester frosh, and can’t find the time to balance friends with studying, which is going to prove to be a major problem soon since I’m such an extrovert… At this point I have almost given up my social life in order to keep up with the work I have. My goal is to bring my horrid GPA up to something that will probably help me transfer the hell out of here.

I know how you feel. If I’m in a position where I have to choose though, I always pick studying first because I know that in 4 years (or more possibly) I may not even know them or socialize often with them, but the degree is a certain thing if I work for it. That’s kind of what happened in after high school. You see people every day and swear you’ll keep in touch, and less than a year later, I only communicate with about 3 of them, and only about once a week on the phone at that. I spend more time socializing with people at my college. Last semester I had a gap of about 2 hours between two of my classes, so I’d always eat lunch with friends then. This semester is harder because I’m taking two three hour classes and I don’t have that opportunity, but like I said, the degree is a certain thing. If you have to put your social life on hold for a while, it’s worth it.
Eventually that balance will come, but focus on your GPA first. That’s the main reason your in college anyway.
I also recommend joining a club. It will motivate you to hang out with a familiar group of people on a regular basis, and that helps relationships develop.

Luckily, I live in a residential college so everyone on my floor is in similar classes and so we just do all of our homework in the same room. Plus, we have movie night Thursdays, swimming Fridays, etc. If you have a schedule it makes it easier to get things done and be able to see one another :).

You’re probably too ugly, that or you’re not putting out enough.

Getting drunk helps.

It’s exactly like Kanye says:

“I don’t know what’s better, gettin laid or gettin paid
I just know when I’m gettin one, the other’s gettin away.”

Except getting paid means homework.

I would recommend giving up one or the other in your case. That way, you will never be troubled by balancing between the two ever again, and you will most likely to flourish in the one you choose.
It’s a win-win situation.

It is not that we dont have enough time, it is that we waste it.

time’s never wasted when you’re getting wasted

“The opportunity to explore yourself and your interests on your own is one of the best things about college, even if it takes some getting used to.”

yeahh. you gotta find your balance because if you don’t; this will transition over into whatever career you pursue.
