How do you calculate your grades?

I guess this is pretty stupid. But until last year we had letter grades and now number. I'm just confused if these number grades are sent to colleges just as they are, or if they get converted into GPA. And when they do get converted to GPA, is it the exact same value (as in 97 = 3.88) or they change in ranges (if that makes sense as in 95-100 becomes 4.0)

Or does it depend on the high school or the college? -_-
Sorry...

some change in ranges (95-100=4), others are strictly a number that corresponds with a letter (A=4, B=3, etc). Never heard of anyone that does grade % out of 4 (97=3.88). Dont think anyone does that. It all depends on the high-school though.

Like the above said, it just depends on your school. Different schools have different methods of grading
