how did u guys and gals find something to creative to write about in the Why Penn essay?

Personally, I felt the question was asking what classes and what characteristics of Penn make you a good match…but how creative could you get with that topic? The only creative part was perhaps my intro and conclusion but the body was basically all Penn w/ minimal creativity. A lot of depth and passion, but not much humor/creativity.

Personally, I wrote about the interdisciplinary studies and experiential learning. 2 generic topics but I got really specific with how Hegel and Kant could apply to management methods, etc. Is that too generic?

I already submitted the app but it may prove valuable for all you RDers

well i talked about how i could take unique classes from each college and find the links and stuff which could change the entire methodology and approach in a field...

i wrote abt philly, dance, tofu-cheesesteaks, snow, my grandfather, scrabble... yeah. random stuff but all very fitting.

this essay is very strongly connected to putting urself IN their school. what would u do for this place, what can it do for you? what kid on campus are u gonna be? like that.

my essay focused heavily on the academic side of penn, the management 100 class and the interdisciplinary studies...and how i've been preparing for them all my life kinda thing. I was much more creative with my personal essay. Hopefully they wont see my Penn essay as a lack of effort, I just didn't feel anything creative jumping out at me. The passion and the longing for Penn were def. there but it was strictly academic and extracurricular but focused...

I think is the one opportunity where you can really be creative since most of the applicants just describe the courses of study and plain stuff...

I did it about giving a tour to Franklin... I know it sounds weird but turned out to be great, I think.

That's exactly what I did. tied one of my favorite activities, debate, with the classes and stuff at Penn. I'm sure everyone's was brilliant no matter what they talked about, pokemon, digimon, pennmon lol.
