Hiya.
I havent had a lot of work to do lately so I just waste time thinking about stuff. I realize that Im not a perfect person, and no one is, but you still have to try to change a little. Im not really doing a very good job. I know it doesn't happen in one week or one month, but does anyone have any suggestions to get rid of old habits? Things like being short tempered or nosy or procrastination. One of my major problems is that I keep thinking about a problem even when I already know the solution. A friendship or family problem , not school related. The problem isnt even a problem anymore, but I can't get it out of my head, which wastes a lot of time. Help?

You could try talking to someone else about it if you haven’t already. I read once that if you talk to people about your problems, it’ll less likely to linger in your head. Basically, it’s a good way to “get it out” and just have it leave your system. Maybe then you can get it out of your head? Just a suggestion.

Talking about problems is a great way both to calm down, see things more logically plus you might get some advice you hadn’t thought about.

Writing problems down so they’re ‘out of the way’ can also be very helpful.

Also, finding an activity or activities where you simply can’t mull it over while you concentrate. For me, it’s swimming. The moment my mind starts to drift, I start taking in water. I find it better than running for that but each to their own.

More school related stuff- colleges often run study skills workshops which include time management. Ultimately, you’ve just got to decide, today I’ll start even its just 10 minutes. Once you get going, you’ll want to get more out of the way. When you’re done, tell yourself ‘well done’ and enjoy that feeling for a moment. Take each day as it comes. Good luck.
