How do people manage to stay up all night studying and doing homework? I can barely function properly if I don't get at least 9 hrs of sleep .. So how do you people manage to get good grades while just getting 3 hrs of sleep on average ? Lol please share .. And I ain't looking for coffee as an answer .. Thanks in advance !

I normally get 5-6…need to get more. I
m always tired, and in boring classes, almost fall asleep, but I just make myself get up in the morning and make myself function. I guess you just get used to it. Coffee helps. Actually, I rarely drink coffee. On the bus ride to school, I usually sort of fall asleep…like I
m awake, but in a vegetative state, I guess.

At least 9 hours? Wow.
I sleep about 5 hours a night. And like CE527M above me, I am tired in class sometimes especially in first block. But after that I am wide awake, then after a volleyball game (around 6:00pm) I start to get tired again. But these are just normal peaks and valleys in our Circadian Rhythm. I’m just used to it I guess. Last year I got around 7 hours of sleep a night. Over the summer I had 6:45am volleyball plyometrics so I got used to getting up early.

I thought after a while, I woudln
t be tired because I
d be used to it…but I
m still tired…oh well. Yeah, 1st block is rough. Math class, the teacher is boring, and we sit there and take notes. We basically write examples down for our notes (Record is 12 examples…) Anyhow, I
m much better as soon as I leave that class, and then in 3rd, science (Boring) I get tired again. And some nights, I get lucky and not have as much homework, but I still stay up late because I just don`t want to go to sleep…try and prolong the next school day, I guess.

What’s studying? I’ve never studied…

At least, not the way you’re supposed to…

I get 6-8 hours of sleep every night depending on the amount of hw. You just kind of do all of this because it’s what you become used to. I am better now with sleeping, I used to get 4-5 a night and it was terrible! And the weekend helps with catching up and the occasional naps. Interesting classes helps, and coffee does too(even though you said it wasn’t an answer). Plus this is a site mostly made of overachievers, most teens sleep a lot or stay up, without the escuse of hw. :D

I don’t stay up all night.

I have three tests tomorrow, one of which I should probably be worried about. I’ll study for it when I finish my first test, which is the class before.

I want my 8-9 hours of sleep back. 7 isn’t enough.

Basically i’m a crazy person and my day start when I wake up, and doesn’t end until I go to bed. Down time? What’s that?

Also first period usually sucks because pre-calculus.

And of course, three hours of sleep a night tends to be an exaggeration. The people who are getting that much sleep are doing something wrong IMO.

I go to bed at 10 and wake up at 5:50, though recently I’ve been skipping the formal breakfast in favor of a banana on the way out so I actually stay in bed until ~6:07. Because breakfast takes that long.

That’s pretty good. I’ve ended up going to bed at 11 these past few nights, mostly because of odds and ends. Like…taking a shower and stuff like that.

I still cannot figure out how people can function without a proper breakfast. At least you eat a banana, which is yummy and good for you. A large iced coffee does not a breakfast make.

Some of us unlucky people need the sleep. I’m one of them. Everyone’s different. I need about 6.5-7 hours to function and about 9 not to be exhausted the next day. Try to do homework right after school so you don’t have to stay up all night long.

I usually get around 6-7 hours from Mon-Wed. but on Thurs. and Fri I usually go to bed earlier and save homework from the weekends (since our school as an A-day + B-day schedule and therefore Thurs. and Fri. homework aren’t due until Mon. and Tues., respectively.) and I get around 7-8 hours of sleep. So my schedule isn’t too bad, at least for now, but when I’m tired, I just try to fight it until it goes away. Also, napping for 15 minutes after school helps, and sleeping earlier/waking up late on weekends is a lifesaver.

@Elleya…I never eat breakfast…I just can
t eat that early in the morning, I don
t know why. I function fine, but am starving by lunch (1:08).

I sleep about 6-7 a night (11:30ish to 6:00). I never feel like it’s enough (and yes, I am coffee- and soda-less). My entire school is usually a bunch of perambulating zombies by November. I could probably get more sleep and use less time at night but I procrastinate / :(.
Advice: EAT BREAKFAST. It really wakes me up. I need that carb boost. I usually have a bowl of cereal and milk before my bus comes (about 6:40). If I’m strapped for time, toaster waffles or yogurt.

COFFEE

10char

I don’t use coffee/soda/sugar/speed and I usually sleep about 6 hours a night. Waking up is a pain but after that I’m good. Good thing too because my first class is usually physics.

I used to need more sleep but now not so much.

Eventually you just get used to it. I go to bed at midnight and get up at 4:30 if I have a lot of homework and 5:30 if I don’t.

lately I’ve been getting roughly 4 hours of sleep and when I have exams I sometimes go up to 40 hours without sleep. It is terrible. I usually just shower and splash water on my face. sometimes I feel myself struggling to stay conscience during class, but I end up crashing for about 15 minutes, and then I feel so much better.

Man, that
s rough…you really need to get some more sleep…40 hours at once? I
ll do that occasionally, if I really have a lo to get done, but that`s on the weekend.
