How do you guys remember to keep your key with you?

Wow it's very stupid to have a door that automatically locks - I'd like a minute or two with the person who made that policy.

So that if you forget to lock your door?

I think doors that automatically lock make sense for some offices because you don't want to keep getting up to lock the door when someone leaves.

It's inconvenient to have to deal with a door that automatically locks, but it increases security dramatically.

I live in a house, not a dorm (so my room is unlocked), but what works for me is in the winter, I keep my keys in my coat pocket, since I never go out without a coat and I don't have to expend time looking for them--plus when I open the door I just put them right back in. When it's warm, I keep them in my backpack...most backpacks have a little clip that you can attach to your keychain.

i always carry with me: wallet in left pocket, keys and cell in right pocket. i just get used to having those three items in their specific places and it works =).

Oh my gosh how do you remember to keep your house keys with you, CC is not going to help you with every aspect of your life.

There are four things that I cannot live my life without at all times (except while sleeping :p): my watch, wallet, cell phone, and keys. At night, they are always next to my alarm clock, as I have to always turn it off in the morning.

I carry 2 house keys (for different locks), car keys, mailbox key at school, dorm room key, a little LED flashlight, a leatherman mini, a couple key chains, and a holder for my school ID (lets you into dorms, meal plan, money, etc) on a key chain. Then I have the keychain on a lanyard that I keep in my pocket. If I'm wearing athletic shorts then I carry them (or put them in the backpack, but if I have the backpack, I'm probably not wearing athletic shorts).

Everytime before I leave my room I do a pocket check =P. Wallet, keys, phone, got it all? Off I go.

Add cigarettes and lighter and that's my exact list.

Keys in right pocket, cell in left, wallet in back right pocket. Will be a little more different when I go take a shower in the dorms I figure..haha.

I just keep everything in my bag/purse, since I usually don't have pockets/want stuff bulging out.

exactly what i do. Just hate it when I'm in a rush and forget to check

A lot of people at my school use carabiner clips. You can clip it to the outside of your bookbag or purse, or to your belt loop or even over the edge of your waistband (with pajama pants or athletic shorts). There are usually hooks in the shower area, so I just hooked my carabiner there when I went for a shower. My school also handed out small wallets to go on a keychain that was very convenient for keeping your ID and bus pass. I have never gotten into the habit of carrying a purse with me, but I quickly got used to checking my right side to see if my keys were dangling there.

Yeah, after a couple of weeks, you get into a routine. It doesn't take long before you feel like something is missing if you don't check for your keys and your ID.

it only takes a second to pat ur pockets, it won't make you any later than you already are =P

... if you use a Beaner for your keys, don't use the same one for rock climbing, the one with your keys isn't strong enough (unless you have a real one) =]

LOL, I hope nobody is stupid to do that since none of the real ones have NOT FOR CLIMBING engraved! :p

If there is one piece of advice I may offer, it is that you should NEVER swallow your keys in order to remember where they are. Belive me, I tried. I had to wait until, um, uh, well, a let's say a long time, until I was able to retrieve my keys. The medical fees alone are not worth it.

Hope it helps.

My housemate made up a song that he'd sing everytime he left his room. He'd sing, "keys in my pocket, yeah yeah" while doing a little bob with his knees so that he could hear the keys jingle in his pocket. Seemed to work for him....

I have a space next to my computer monitor on my desk where I put my wallet, keys, and cellphone. Every time I enter the room I put it there, so I ALWAYS know where my stuff is.

just dont leave it lying around

We have key cards so it's always in my wallet.

By the end of last year, though, me and my roommate got lazy to insert card>punch pin number>open door. So we just took the top two screws of the vent at the bottom of the door so whenever we needed to get in, we'd just slide our arms through the hole that was just big enough, and open the door. It's great living in an honors dorm and not having to worry about people stealing.
