How do you Homeschool AP Classes?

I have already submitted a Course Sylabus to AP Course Audit, but how do you put that you took the class on the record. New to HomeSchooling.

Not sure what you’re asking. Typically, homeschoolers will simply study for the AP test and take it in May. The score itself shows you know the material. A 5 is great; 4 is good. In most cases, 3 is just fair, and I’d avoid sending in a 2 or a 1. If the course you’re taking is an AP accredited course, you should get a grade for it, which is another way you’d show some mastery, although, as I said, it’s not necessary; the AP score itself is really the indicator. Is this what you’re asking?

^^ Yes, my d’s transcript says “Advanced Chemistry with AP testing” - note we avoid using the term “AP Chemistry” because we didn’t even try to get our course approved.

Same here-- Son simply studied the material and registered for the test. No approval of the course. We listed all the test results on the transcript - next to the class description.

If you want an online course for AP, try Pennsylvania Homeschoolers. I’ve heard good reviews of their classes.

Just give the official name of the course, i.e. AP Chemistry, and include with your transcript a copy of the e-mail that the CB will send you to confirm that your syllabus has been approved. Your course will not be listed in the ledger because the CB does not want to identify teachers – just schools.

The answer I am giving you is the one I received from the CB when I asked the same question you did.

You can just register for the test, and take it. It is simply like a SAT II subject test. You do have to call your local school, but the AP site has it all on there. I think you have to register by January if I am correct.

Keystone, EPGY, and some other online places have actual AP classes too. :)
