How do you know that your application is being reviewed for the NCM?

I submitted all of my common application and writing supplements yesterday to my five colleges for the NCM. The only school I have received an email from acknowledging it though is Caltech. How do I know that the other schools received my application and all of my required materials?

Yeah I’m wondering the same thing. I only got an email from Grinnell and it said “Dear N/A," why wouldn’t they address me by my name? Thats scary…

WHAT? are you guys kidding? Do you think these colleges send instant individual confirmations to every student during the admissions season? the Common App tells you what components have been received and some colleges do send confirmations (be patient!) or have portals where you can check that your materials have been received… however, generally you can expect to hear if something is missing. If you’ve submitted an application and something is missing the college will contact you.

We’re just making sure nynightowl right now it it’s very stressful not knowing whether you even have a shot at your dream college…and it could just be because of some error that you can’t control.

They will contact you if a part of your application is missing.
These are professionals and they do this for a living. Really, this is good practice for the maturity and independence you’ll need in college - try not to ask for handholding and don’t bombard adcoms with emails asking for reassurance. This is a great time to get back to your classwork which has probably been suffering while you’ve been doing your NCM applications. Spend the next month really killing it at school because 90% of you will be going into RD and will have to submit mid year grades.

^^^ Every year when the matched students are announced it’s striking how many of them never participated in the FB groups or on CC. These can be great resources when you really need them, but they can also be huge time and energy sucks, where you waste time spinning your wheels instead of doing the things that will impress colleges…
I would absolutely agree to take the next month and do productive work at school and in your life, and try not to waste time on social media! December 1st will be here before you know it.
