I can barley manage, if manage at all, to get sleep on the night before the test. Even if i try to take my mind off the big day, i still get this uncontrollable uncomfortable feeling in my chest and gut, which keeps me awake until i can’t keep my eyes open anymore.
So far this has led me to underperform on each test i took so far…
I just put my mind worry free. Honestly, there is no reason not to. Just think about nothing.
You know that if you miss on a little bit of sleep, even 2 or 3 hours, you’ll do fine. Just go to bed at 10, or whenever you’re ready to go to bed. Watch a little TV or something. Don’t think about the exam too much, even though you inevitably will, just try to act like it’s no big deal. If you really studied, and you’re being honest with yourself, then accept it as a part of life and know that whatever score you get or however well you perform will be the outcome of the amount of effort you put into preparation. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. If you didn’t prepare, on the other hand, I’d probably worry too (haha)
Don’t worry man, if you believe in God, know that he’ll help you (honestly, that helped me do better in my last SAT, believe it or not)
Get everything organized the night before. Pencils sharpened, snacks packed, admissions ticket, Id, fresh batteries in calculator, and set your alarm. No caffeine after noon the day before. Read something for a while before going to sleep to distract your mind.
I did my only studying the night before. To relax after that, I played a game of frisbee and some other physical activity. I would also advise drinking some herbal (non caffeine) tea.
It’s just a test. A test that is somewhat important in the short term, but in the long term, meaningless.
Chamomile tea? Honestly, I think the Dali Lama has the right idea, “If a problem is fixable, if a situation is such that you can do something about it, then there is no need to worry. If it’s not fixable, then there is no help in worrying. There is no benefit in worrying whatsoever." Try to turn your mind off and try exercising really hard the day before the test, so your body is too exhausted to keep you awake.
Take deep breaths and just try the best you can to find peace no matter what. Even if your heart is beating tell yourself “it’s ok to be worried.” The last thing I would do is take a bath/shower then yoga or vice versa. Yoga is definitely not something I would tell my friends I do, but it’s very soothing and basic positions really help haha. Even if you lose a couple hours, I think your brain will be stimulated enough to not limit ability; despite that, sleep will always need to be a part of test day. Good luck!
I listen to ASMR on YouTube. They’re videos that are specifically designed to help you get to sleep (if you’re the right kind of person). Try it out ^.^ I recommend starting with VeniVidiVulpes. She’s my favorite.
Just completely forget about the test and everything else going on. Just relax. Read a book you enjoy, take a bath, lor just lay there and do nothing. The day before, I just laid on my bed, staring up at the ceiling for actually 45 minutes. After, I felt really relaxed. Don’t stay up cramming, and get as much sleep as possible. Eat a balanced breakfast, take a small jog or do something to get your blood flowing, and go in confident and relaxed. Work diligently but stay accurate, and you will do fine. Try this with future SATs or other tests.
