Are we outdoing ourselves? Take a moment to consider.

This board seems full of people who take at least 5 AP classes a year, are in the top 5% of their class, and are very concerned about being admitted to the best colleges in the nation. Is this website not for ALL students, not just the brilliant ones? I consider myself a good student, but I think that taking 13+ AP courses and looking down upon yourself for not being #1 is overdoing things.

So I guess my question is, why do only the brilliant flock to this site? I'd be interested in knowing what the average GPA and SAT are for this site.

The people on here are the ones that care about academics extremely. It is not that they are brilliant, everyone has the potential for greatness, but they get good scores and have a good GPA because they work hard on it. Whether they realize that they work hard or not. Others that don't care so much about academics don't put in the same amount of effort and thus receive less than stellar scores and GPAs.

Do you really think that someone with a 2.0 GPA who scores 1500 on the new SAT would care enough to come to a site like this?

Because I don't feel that I'm doing enough, and I want to get the scoop on things I don't know about the superior academic world.
I didn't know al of these things before I came here, but I was always the academically driven person. I'm just ravenous to know more, and to talk to people like me.

There have been many threads similar to this one. You might want to look some of those up.

what's wrong with a 1500 SAT? You mean only math and verbal right?

Well I joined CC late on purpose because I didn't want to scare myself about my chances since I knew such incredible students flock here, though the reason a certain type of student comes to CC is because as said before, the only type of student who comes here are the ones that are concerned with the educational future, and so they come here to get the answers they are seeking.

I think he means a 1500 out of the three sections.

Yes, she does.

Simple answer: People with low scores do not post.

Think about it, if you had a C or even a B, you aren't the best, who is going to say HEY LOOK! I am lower than you guys!

Most people who push themselves that way in school tend to be more concerned about college and stuff...which is why they're on this forum.

i post and ive gotten C's.....this is awkward

Hmm, so I got a D once. But my GPA isn't horrible - 3.5/3.6ish. I could give two ****s. I still care about getting into a college.

It's ironic how the stellar ones usually strive for more while the below-average ones usually sit back, procrastinate, and couldn't care less.

I took no AP's, two honors (one of which was band), got a 3.76, and got into college.

My ACT was 28, my SAT 1160. Would have been higher but I got 460 verbal.

I was never up until 3 doing homework. If I could make myself read two lines in a textbook I was happy. Most of my work was done during study hall.

But I did have a social life. A wonderful social life. The people I went to HS with will never be forgotten. Nobody at college (except my buddy who went to HS with me) will ever replace them. We still are close even after a year at college, and I think going away just made our friendships stronger.

i'm impressed by the ones who take all APs (i can't, small school) and hey, if it gets them a full scholarship, why shouldn't you push yourself?
if you can do it, do it. we all have our personal bests, and we go to this site to see if our personal best can take us where we want to go and to get advice. i think it's handy to have geniuses all over the forum because they give a lot of good advice

Personally, I think APs are overrated... It is like that is all people care about. Some people think that if you take all AP classes and get good grades on the exams that you will automatically be accepted. My school only offers 4 AP exams and I am not going to worry about it too much. Right now I am just going to live my life and get good grades... worry about the rest later.

As for staying up to three... no one does that anymore. People get some sleep, Trust me you will do even better than you already are.I've had times that I had to stay afterschool until 5, vollenteer 6-8:30 and my homework was done by 10 ;). The thing is yes the nest day I had two tests... but guess what I didn't study until the ride to school the four minutes in home room and the three minute passing period and guess what I scored above 100 on both (extra credit :)). But the thing is that SLEEP is what did it!

"As for staying up to three... no one does that anymore."

Not true. three actually isn't that bad. i stayed up until 5:30 last night/morning finishing homework -- and that's for summer school

some people can do fine on less sleep, others will do better with more sleep. as for AP, it doesn't matter to colleges if your school offers a lot, but if it does have a few the best ones prefer that you take at least some of them
the genius ppl are just trying to make sure that they get into the best schools, and who cares if they're being paranoid? we all have the right to be paranoid : )

haha, no my class doesnt start til 1 PM

WHAT?! What kind of a school is this?!
