... It's my weakest section and I would like to improve my score as much as possible. On practice tests I have gotten anywhere from 650 to 760, but I want a consistent 740+. Is there anything I can do? Thank you!

I'll tell you how I prepared when I get my scores thursday and if it is good. Last time I got a 710 so i'm no help right now.

I got an 80 on PSAT math and I'm planning on getting 800 on my first SAT on January.

What I do is try to take all the practice problems I can. You will use all your skills that you have learned up to Algebra II, which you will go over in Pre-calculus. So if you are taking pre-calculus or higher, you should be fine.

The trick is to master all the SAT strategies. Things such as reverse solving and plugging in available answers can save you time and one more right answer. If you understand all the fundamental math concepts, the next thing is to master how the SAT tests you in math.

anybody else?

What I did to go from high 500s to low 600s to around mid 700s was by using Barron's SAT as I heard that those math questions were harder than the real thing. I ignored Princeton Review because I was getting 700s in that but 600s on the real thing, whereas after I switched to Barron, I was getting 650+s, but in the 700s on the real thing. Although I must warn you that once you reach a certain score in Math, it's luck whether or not you get more questions correct, though I might be wrong on this.

Aight so I got my dec score back- 780 math. Basically I just went through all the prep books I could find, and learned the strategies. You have to realize that there is always a trick to doing a problem. Alot of times they dont want you to calculate to get the nth term, they just want you to see the pattern and solve accordingly. Also, learn all the formulas, and dont waste time on problems you dont know. Mark it off and come back to it. Also a simple one- make sure you mark the right bubble.

I got a 780 on the December test and I fully agree with what chocolatealtoids is saying.

SAT does not really test your math skills, it tests how well you can take the SAT. So I would recommend studying the strategies for your respective test. This applies to ACT and all the other SAT subject tests.

Get the official guide to the SAT subject tests, which will help you.

i got an 800 on the math part for the december sat i, so,
like everyone else is saying, you should know the basic formulas from algebra 2 and geometry. any prep book should have them but i recommend princeton review for a quick brush up. the CB blue book also has a lot of the basics if you want to take a look at that.
also, know some strategies, like liist was saying. for instance, a lot of questions on the math part will be something completely in variables which can be hard to wrap your mind around - to make it easier, just plug in numbers for each variable and solve out. i found that princeton review also has a ton of great strategies so you could get a copy of that to look over before the test.
good luck(:

My problem is that i always get 1-2 wrong, and i really want an 800. I am very strong in math and i don't want colleges to doubt my math, plus i want a high math score to offset possibly lower verbal scores. I got a 760 in math in dec and i really need an 800. I did get an 80 in the psat but that was so much easier. I am a junior by the way. I took algebra 2 in 8th grade and pre- cal in 9th so my math knowledge is up to par.

thank you :)
I mostly get probability problems and those annoying variable questions wrong.
