I'm trying to study for APs right now, and I just can't do it! ugh, how do you make yourself study? I need to be more motivated...

Fortitude is what motivates me.

Nothings gonna change my world…

The strongest and most successful people are those who build their own motivation.

Use other’s sources of inspiration as a stepping stone to your own unique fountain.

Think of your past and your dreams.
Think of the people around you

Well I just think about how ****ty I’ll feel if I don’t do well.

You can’t just ‘get’ intrinsic motivation

Pretend the exam is the next day.

I picture what will happen to me if I become a failure, with lots of exaggeration.

I don’t understand how people can pretend the exam is the next day. I mean… it’s not. How can you actually convince yourself that it is?

stick one picture of your dream school and one of your community college right in front of your face while studying

I make bets involving large sums of money with people if I don’t get the scores I want.

Also, I imagine my enemies hoping for me to fail and then use my anger to force me to study.

Paid $100 per exam, plus prep book expenses. Not going to waste money and time.

(Preexisting interest also helps.)

It’s not so much motivation for studying for a test, but the motivation for the long run. If all you want is motivation to study for that single ap exam, you’re not gonna get much, just telling you straight up. But if you imagine it in the long run, like how if you pass you get college credit, so that’s one less class to pay for in college, or if you pass you’ll be able to proudly include that in your college applications. So imagine your future. At least that always works for me.

Gotta get sum edumacation to get them PAPER$$$.

Haha, I don’t know man. I just do it 'cause yah gotta do it 'cause it’s life. I don’t even know what I’m saying, but studying is fun, I guess. HAHAH WOW. I’m lame.

Yeah. I only get motivation when the exam actually is the next day. Well, that’s not entirely true, but like I only start studying the weekend before and then just cram like hell.

I’ve heard logging on to CC helps.

@meadow36 If you get straight As it does, logging on here makes me feel like a failure for getting Bs. . . or a 3 on AP Exam.

I like the idea with the have a community college and my dream college in front of me idea.

Will find a Drexel photo and some depressing community college photo now.

For me, I try to stay away from the computer. There are really too much distraction on the internet(facebook, nba playoffs, games, forums, collegeconfidencial ;p). And tried to think of the 1s you will get if you don’t study and it will scare you to dig in the books right now.

+1 on the dream college advice. Or better yet, get a bracelet or necklace for your dream school and have constant motivation, not just when studying in your room.

When I said, “Pretend like the exam is the next day”, it really is just extrapolated from another common quote you have all heard before.

“Live everyday like it’s your last.”
