Do you prefer to cram the night before the test or study 30 minutes every day? Please explain your method of studying and if it has proven useful/harmful to your education. Also, do you take any energy drinks (5 hour, Monster, etc) and if so which ones have worked and vice versa?

I just don’t study.

Mainly the night before. Mainly I just reread my notes and try to memorize everything I can.

In my school you need at least, minimum, one month to study for a test.

That said, we only have 3 test weeks in a year.

Depends on the subject. For apush the best way I retain information is by doing the assigned Cornell notes on pages in the book and then notes in class. Thank god he gives us a review guide but I have found that I actually remember and understand the concepts more when I do the Cornell notes every night. Apush/history is my weakness however with these techniques I am one of the few ppl who received an A in the class
With math I don’t “study” I just do all the homework and reviews that are assigned. However I take my time doing this and it takes me about an hour to do the hw and understand whats going on. I have an A+ in that class.
For the rest of my classes i just need to study the night before by reading over everything important.
One thing I must mention- don’t pull all nighters, it’s not necessary. I have never done an all nighter for a test even my finals and I aced all of my classes. What are your study habits?

I write the information down on a sheet of paper, fold it up, and place it in my pocket until the test. This allows the information to be absorbed into my bloodstream via the femoral artery which gives me a complete grasp of the knowledge in question.

I study as soon as I get home (so essentially, the evening before the test). Depending on the subject, I use flashcards. No energy drinks and no coffee (can’t stand the taste of it).

I study night before and day of. Generally I will review notes and then flip through a textbook to read more specifically into the things I don’t fully remember. My school does not start until 8:15, and I get to school around 7:05, so I devote about an hour to review of whatever tests/quizzes I have each morning.

For larger tests (APs and midterms/finals) I will prepare in advance.

I’m more of a text person. I have to read the information, about every day even when the test is 2 weeks away. I read the information until it’s in my head. For example in Biology we took our biggest and hardest unit Cell Processes: Cellular Respiration, Photosynthesis, Mitosis and Meiosis. I managed to get a 100%. I’m more of a reader.

Your post just made my day :D

I study the day before mainly…

patwita: Thanks for asking! I’m involved in sports year-round so as soon as I get home from practice I either take a nap or finish the easy homework and nap then study. I try not to study when I’m tired because I feel it’s a waste of time. On rare occasions, I’ll drink coffee; sometimes it’ll work sometimes I’ll just feel really anxious and nervous about not being able to study in time and I’ll rush through. I mainly read the textbook, notes, or prep books. When I can’t concentrate and I can’t afford to nap, I write down key things (since I remember more when I write things down). I usually study a day or two before the test. I’ve not much success with my studying method T.T it’s good for history but horrible for subjects like physics and calc where you have to apply the concepts; I only memorize that’s why ><
Oh yeah, it’s bad but I do pull all-nighters. They only work for stuff that I need to memorize; for math and physics…uhhhhhhhhhhh haha.

Woah log how are you able to take naps after sports? Can you give me a small timetable of your afterschool activities because when I use to play sports year round I was getting home around 5 and doing hw till late into the night

What’s this studying you speak of?:D

My solution: study by going to sleep really early (8:30) and wake up early and take the local train instead of the regular express and study then while resisting staring at weird people of the NYC subway.

I like flash cards because theyre easy to compile and save for the midterm/final.

to be honest, i study mainly the night before if at all. Sometimes if im too tired at night ill wake up 30 minutes early that morning to study. Honestly, i am a senior in high school and it has worked out well as i have been able to get all A’s and B’s. Oh, and i also watch a lot of TV at night like sports games and stuff.(knicks games hence my name) But yea, math tests i dont really know how to study for even though i prob should, US history tets i read over my notes 2 times, english we dont really have tests, AP environmental, i read over my notes severa times, AP stat i dont need to study so easy, and spanish i memrize the vocab and the grammar i look over the sheets…has worked so far…i am not the kid that needs to studt for hours and i love that…i love the feeling of getting the same grade as someone else knowing i crammed for it and they studied the whole day…idk why but i love it…it’s a little cruel lol

Flashcards and study the day before.

I am extremely verbal, so I always make a sheet of the information I need to memorize and then beg someone to quiz me on it. (for most subjects)

For math I just do my homework and review the night before

LOL cram for everything night before the test.

What I do: Review ~1 hour (much less if not a big test) and sleep before 11 the night before, and eat fruit/yogurt right before the test. If you paid attention in class, took decent notes, and did the homework correctly, there should be no reason to struggle on a test unless it’s bogus.
