How do you guys study and do homework? How much time do you devote to studying for tests, writing essays, and doing homework? I'm just curious to know how much work juniors/seniors get with ap classes and all.

hmm i study for ap tests for an hr or two the night before. i usually get a lot of my hw done in other classes (i do calc in physics, spanish in APUS, physics in ap chem) but even with that said i still probably spent 2 hrs a night on schoolwork. but that's just average, some days I'll have like 3 papers due and that will be 9, and others that will be .25.

To study I run around my house screaming about how this is the end, how I am going to blow my hs record with this test. I then proceed to bed where I have terrible nightmares and scream constantly throughout the night. Its a good time.

For math, I basically teach myself EVERYTHING about the chapter the night before because my teacher doesn't have teaching as his forte fo sho.

For Math I just do a lot of practice problems, same for Chemistry. For History I just reread my texts/notes /handouts over and over for a week and I memorize most of them. For English I dont study, neither for Art nor P.E. tests.

And always before tests I sleep a lot. I mean twice the amount I usually sleep, to get fully rested.

For math, I just pay attention in class and do ALL my homework.

In chem, I have to study on my own and resist the urge to cram the night before...it NEVER works out for me x_x.

I study as needed, which is 60 minutes for Chemistry, 30 minutes for Math, 90 for History and 60 for English. Spanish is from anywhere between 30 and 120. I do this only before exams.
There is no written homework assigned on a regular basis in the Humanities, just reading multiple chapters of material per week. Math homework is completed in class, and there is no reason to worry about Chemistry written work because it is due once every 10 days.

kman1456: I envy to be in your school. In my school, I'm lucky if I get less than 1.5 hours of solid hw plus essays/tests. I'm also lucky if I don't get homework in a given subject.

dude, 1.5 isnt bad.

I really don't know how to find time to do any homework other then history every day of the week. To keep up, you have to read atleast 8 pages of thick textbook material and be sure to take notes to remember it. Sometimes this takes me an hour.

What would you guys recommend for a schedule like this:

AP English Language
AP Chemistry
AP US History
Algebra II
Possibly Precalculus
Spanish 3

I spend around 4 hours on hw for an A Day (AP Stat, IB bio, Public speaking, Spanish) and around 2 hours for a B Day (English and history)

I am studying right now for the exams next month...which is painstaking right now...

My birthday is in May and I am not even going to acknowledge it this month due to how busy I will be. Damn you AP/IB tests!

I do math (second period) during first period on normal days, I do the assignments and the reading in AP U.S. History and nothing else, I rarely do the physics homework but do a lot of work in class, and I devote most of my homework time to English and essays. It's generally 3-4 hours a night, often more.

Wow. I don't think I spend more than 2 hours. ever. On average I have about 15 minutes of HW, which I do in my 2 hour long study. lol

Whenever I do hw in another class I always become lost in said class...so I don't even bother. I obviously can't multitask.

haha I still follow APUSH lectures better than the rest of the class (b/c i'm a good boy and read my assignments, unlike everyone else) so i contribute more to the lecture than any other student even when doing hw. b/c of this, although i sit first row center, I don't even have my US stuff on my desk (in favor of spanish WS's and dictionary) and he doesnt say anything b/c i'm the man.

ziggy, you make me feel bad. You participate in a lecture and do hw at the same time =p

My AP U.S. History is online....I pretty much do whatever I want. I tend to do it at home and just sit around at school during that block and talk with my teacher. He's a Republican, I'm a Democrat, and we like to debate.

i do my homework in other classes...the only class I actually study for is APUSH, and all I do for that is read the chapter the night before the tests...for exams I just read through all my old tests for the other classes and do history review guides

for math if i have time i spend about an hour on homework. if not i spend about 10 mins making stuff up. for tests i study for a couple of hours the weekend before.

for band i do nothing. absolutely nothing. i havent brought home my instrument since about 7th grade.

for english i spend about 3 hours a week maybe. i used to read a lot in junior high when i had more free time, so if there is a book report due or something and i dont have time to read a book, i use a book i read in junior high.

for world history i spend about an hour a day or at least 5 hours a week reading the chapters and doing study guides.

in biology our teacher pretty much just reads the book to us during class, so i read it beforehand and do the homework as hes reading during class.

in spanish i do nothing outside of school. its the last period of the day so if i have homework i do it earlier in the day.

so i spend about 2 hours doing homework on an average day, 3 or 4 if a project or paper is due.

I make sure to do HW, always. For tests, I study a little bit everyday so I won't be too stressed the night before. The same thing goes for finals. I try my best to do a little at a time.
