How do you take AP/IB classes online?

I always hear of people taking AP or IB classes online, which I really want to do since my HS doesn’t offer many APs and no IB classes.

I asked my GC and she said that they don’t offer summer online classes anymore due to budget cuts. So is there any other way to take these online classes?

I need to raise my low HS GPA.

Does your state have a virtual school like Connection Academy? Http://www.connectionsacademy.com/curriculum/high-school/ap-courses.aspx

Would you be able to get credits from someplace like FLVS? http://www.flvs.net/students/pages/find-course.aspx#highschool

Um, I live in Indiana and I’m not sure.
I hear on the radio sometimes about a online school called k12 something.

My GC says that there is no way to take online summer classes unless I failed a course and need it to graduate. So there is an online class, but due to public school budget cuts they only allow those who need take a class to graduate to do it.

Check out Apex Learning. I’m currently taking AP Macro and Micro there.

Unless your school offers online AP classes through a state network, you will have to find classes on your own that you will have to pay for on your own. No college or university will expect you to do that.

The best way to raise your low HS GPA, is to buckle down and do better in the classes you are already taking.

I just started taking AP Macro through Apex Learning so check that out as @AnEpicIndian‌ said.

Something you might want to look into is talking to the IB coordinators at local high schools that offer IB. I know there a good amount of IB schools in Indiana (mine is one of them), and the IB coordinators tend to be the nicest and most knowledgeable people about IB. They would be the best people to talk to about how to take IB classes out of school.

There’s really no easy method or benefit of taking an online IB course if the program is not offered by your school. Take AP instead.

However, as it’s been said, don’t bother loading up on difficult courses if you’re hoping to improve your GPA, because it’s possible the AP courses you take online won’t count towards that (talk to your counselor first). If you really want to study an AP subject you can do it alone, too. Otherwise just focus on the classes you’re already taking and ask your teachers if there’s any way to do extra credit work to improve your grade.
