Are you a junior? If so, then taking the exam and doing well would be "brownie points." Not taking it... well, it wouldn't necessarily hurt you, but I have a feeling they'd like to see you take it.

If you're a senior, and you put on the application that you're planning to take a certain exam, and you don't, well, that isn't good.

Since AP scores isn't a factor in admissions, I doubt it will have any impact on your admission chances. However, I would AP out of whatever classes I can, because it gives you better registration times and you get to skip weeder classes.

Do AP score credits give you an earlier Telebears time? I don't think so. I'm technically a sophomore with my AP and CC credits, however, my phase dates are around the same time as other freshmen.

It is a slight factor in admissions (as in, if you do well, you get brownie points), or else they would not have you report your scores on the application.

^^ it's a comparative disadvantage. If others get brownie points, then you, not having taken the exams, are at a disadvantage, comparatively. You don't get docked if you don't take them, though.

That relieves me a lot because I have around 5 planned APs for second semester senior year which I might not be able to take because I hit some roadblocks this year (like moving back to my country etc)

Well if you have legitimate reasons for not taking the test, I don't see why it would harm you. But in all honesty, I'd say it's better to take it and get a 3 than not take it at all. Just try your best and I'm sure you will be fine. If you get a 5 you can AP out of the R&C requirement.

Also, if you are scared of getting a poor score, Berkeley doesn't factor your score into your college GPA, unlike some other universities.
