How does disability affect college admission?

I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which mainly affects my hands and requires me to have a 504 plan and accomodations on my IB exams and the SATs (I get extra time and can type on a computer for tests and essays). The problem is, I've heard there is a tag on all of my IB tests and SAT scores marking me as having accomodations and/or being disabled. I worried about how this is going to affect my admissions to colleges. I'm in the most rigorious program the school offers (the IB program) and the illness has had some affect on my grades (because of the increased stress and psychological impact), but not drastically. I still participate in after school activities, I do volunteer work and I have a job. However, I'm still worried about being tagged. I've heard that it can both help and hurt me and I wanted to ask if anyone has had any personal experiences or guidance they can share?

Thank you so much!

Ultimately, colleges want the best students they can get. Period. If you’ve gotten good grades, SATs, ECs, etc. they will evaluate you just like any other applicant. YOu seem very motivated and if you haven’t already applied to colleges (i.e. not a senior) then I would definitely recommend writing an essay on your situation. Not like making excuses or anything, but perhaps writing about what you have learned about yourself in the process or something like that.

Okay, I will definitely do that. Thank you for the help!
