Disability - Harmful or Helpful

Hi, I was wondering if there were any other kids with disabilities on these forums.

Will disclosing my disability help or harm my chances of getting into colleges? I heard that some colleges don’t like to take kids with IEPs because they require more manpower, resources, etc… once enrolled.

Is it true?

Or does having a disability make AOs more inclined to accept you?

For more information, I have bad hearing loss and vision.

Overall, it’s neither. That doesn’t mean that it can’t be either- esp at super-competitive schools.

It helps at super competitive schools or it doesnt?

It is not a tip for admissions anywhere if the college suspects it is going to cost them more to educate you.

Is it a reason why you aren’t doing as well or are you excelling? Select colleges hate it as an excuse, Love it as something that Is managed and if you are excelling with it.

Top colleges already spend plenty on academic support, they’re committed to it. But it depends on what sort of disability.

Right, they don’t want excuses. They want to see how you succeeded despite challenges. Academically and in activities. And the best person to describe your triumphs is the GC.

Nah I got pretty much perfect stats. I don’t really have good ECS, but it doesn’t impact my grades

Then looks great!
