<p>I'm not exactly sure how FA works. Does Cornell just subtract the amount of aid I get from a total, and then bill me the rest? Their total doesn't include the books and personal expenses right..</p>

<p>The total cost is just tuition, housing, and dining. They use all of the other costs of attendance to estimate the amount of financial aid they need to give for the added costs.</p>
