I’ve tried going through UCLA’s housing website and I just get more and more confused.
So my main question is, does UCLA have on campus apartments for just two-three people? Each person having their own bedroom? I’d love to live on campus but I do NOT want to share a bedroom with somebody. If they do, how would I go about getting one of these apartments? What are my chances?
And if anybody knows, does UCI and UCSB have this? I don’t want to go and post this exact same thread over in those sections.
Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: I just saw the housing thread. I’m going to go through it. But if anybody is willing to help in the meantime because most of it seems for freshman housing.
- Apartments are off campus but not far away from campus. But some of the off campus apartments are closer to school than some on campus residential halls.
- Studio is the only type of room that's possible to have a single room. However, some studios are double room or even triple as well. Single room are extremely rare and expensive (like 12k+ per 9 months).
- On campus single room are present but very limited, and you may have to share living room or bath room stuffs like that. It's also very expensive, if not more expensive.
- You don't have much chance getting these single rooms. I wanted a single room or 1 bedroom double last year, and I am a continuing student that can directly sign up for rooms. I only ended up with a 2 bedroom double with 3 other people in the apartment.
- If you want your own bedroom, you have better chance just to look for off campus private apartments, either a studio/1bedroom, or a private room in a 2BR/3BR apartment. Usually it will be around $1000 on the lower end and around $1500 average, plus utilities and internet and other things.
Not sure about UCSB, but UCI has a better housing conditions. Many of my friends at UCI pay less rent than me and live in luxurious apartments. The only one that live on campus I know, live in a private bedroom in a townhouse. I would say UCSB will be similar since Irvine and Santa Barbara’s housing is no where near as expensive as in LA, more so in Westwood.
Yeah, I figured i’d have to go the private apartment route if I wanted to be alone. Thank you so much!
