How does one collect recommendations without annoying one’s professors?

So I am looking at about 6 schools I want to apply to for Transfer, and I'm going to need to give recommendations to all of them. Does this mean that I need my professor to write six different recommendations for me? I know there must be a better way. Am I allowed to send the same recommendation to all six schools? If so, is there some format I need to ask my professor to follow? You know, a format to make sure he hits all the points the different universities are looking for.

Thanks!

To start with, the CA has a transfer LOR form. However, you should check all of the schools you’re applying to to see if they require something different. Yes, profs can send the same LOR to all schools (modified to fit specific formats if necessary).

oh ok i’ll look for those thanks

Professors are used to writing LORs. It’s no big deal if you give them advance warning.

I set up a meeting with my professors during office hours. I handed them a folder with a resume and filled out CA forms, deadlines, and addressed and stamped envelopes for each school.

oh really? I was afraid I’d have to hold their hands through the experience lol.

Though that is new to me - handing them a folder with a resume. What are filled out CA forms? What does CA stand for? Do you mean just your basic application forms that you fill out for each college?

Addressed and stamped envelopes are a great idea! That way the professor feels like whatever he writes will be confidential

CA = Common Application

Most professor’s will use the same rec for different schools since they mostly are just about you as a student and how you will suceed, etc. All they do is change the name of the school on the letter.
