People have said that showing interest in WashU is important when it comes to admissions. However, does this involve a campus visit? I know that I cannot make such a journey. Are there other ways to show interest?

Don’t they have off-campus interviews, too?

I’d say sending your ACT/SAT scores after you take the test, asking for more information whenever you get stuff in the mail, and filling out the athlete recruitment form if you wanna play a sport, are all ways to show interest.

applying ED is pretty much the juggernaut of interest demonstrations.

Aside from that, you can host WashU-themed parades in your hometown, run onto the field during a play at a football game where WashU is playing, or send the ol’ shoe-in-a-box.

Um, what else. I don’t really know if it would help your chances, but if you really can’t visit, it’d be a good idea to try some phone-calls. Professors in departments you’re interested in, maybe even get a phone-interview. Don’t expect professors to put in a call to the Adcom for you or anything, but they’ll probably be able to give you a better idea of what the department is like, and if you’re considering any other schools that’s always a good thing :)

i wouldn’t sweat the “interest” factor though. Oh, and applying for scholarships is a good idea too. The Danforth is the over-arching one that applies to all majors.

Any chance you’ll have an admissions session in your city/town?

That’s how I made sure my ad.com. knew who I was. I didn’t get to visit until after I was accepted.

A local Wash U alum may be able to give you an interview. Contact APAP (Alumni and Parents Admission Program) toll-free at (800) 935-4826 to see if someone is available in your area.

Thanks, everyone. :)
