This is a question for people who have gone through the process -- what is the procedure in the school that you plan to leave?

You have to ask for recommendations and obviously fill out some paperwork -- but what is it like? You know how in HS you had a college guidance counselor who would be able to talk to a college? Do you get someone like that? Did it feel weird being in the school knowing you were trying to leave?

I talked to one of my professors - who eventually wrote me a recommendation - about whether or not or should transfer. It definitely felt very weird and I was very nervous when I fist approached him about it, but in the end all of your professors and anyone else at your university just want what’s best for the students and if that means going to a different school, they’re all for it. You could always go to an academic advisor or something of that sort if you want someone to talk to about it. It definitely is odd because you would naturally expect them to be a little offended if you don’t like they school they work at but they’ve all been through college before and they know how it goes. Most are willing to helping you out in any way they can. One thing I would watch out for though is telling a lot of other students that you’re planning on leaving. They are more inclined to feel offended and will kind of shun you a little bit. A friend of mine who lives down the hall and is also in the process of transferring actually got in a verbal argument with another kid who lives in the floor about the whole thing. Not pretty.
