How does switching colleges at the last minute affect financial aid?

Background info: I’m currently a sophomore transfer. I was admitted to UC Davis and USC. USC’s admission didn’t come till late July; by then, I was already set up at Davis in regards to pre-registration and classes. Moreover, the financial aid package for USC was going to take longer than the deadline to accept the admission, so I called their office and told them I had a place reserved at Davis. They said it was alright to accept their admission while I was waiting for my package even while I held a spot at Davis.

Now here’s the part where I might’ve messed up on, I procrastinated on which school to go to (mostly due to the fact that USC was spring admission). I finally decided on USC, but, Davis being less than a month from starting, I don’t know if this will impact my financial aid, specifically with the Pell and Cal grant. Davis hasn’t put in my financial aid (they don’t do so till the 15th of September), but I don’t know there’s something I’m missing that may make it so that I’m stuck with Davis. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

No, if you don’t go to Davis, you can’t get the Pell grant or loans through Davis. It should be okay for USC to then offer you a loan and the Pell grant.

Make sure you withdraw complete from Davis, not just through FA office.
