How selective is the program? Can anyone get in? Any cut off lines? Do they have a significant incrase in chance for admission into UF Med?

Just wondering, because this guy's father just said he's son's going to UF "MEDICAL SCHOOL" next year even though his son has just graduated from high school? Does UF premed guarantee admittance into UF med if you go through successfully (which would make his statement a bit more valid)?

Yeah, how does UF premed work?

Pre-med isn’t actually a really a program, it’s just a track. All pre-med means is you’re taking the pre-requisites in order to apply for med school, and that you intend to go to med school. You still choose a major, and do all that. Obviously you have to meet the requirements for med school to get into UF med school, but it’s a long long long way from guarenteed. Probably about a 10% chance you’ll get into UF med school if you do premed, just because of how competitive med school is.

There is a combined Undergrad/Graduate degree program, but I believe you apply for that sophomore year. It’s EXTREMELY competetive.

The guy you were talking to is probably stupid. most parents are.
