How does USC notify applicants of being awarded a scholarship?

People on this board have said that applicants which USC deems qualified for one of their scholarships are usually notified mid-January, to February; my question is HOW do they notify them? (Is it by mail?, e-mail?, telephone?, etc.)

by mail, usually a few days AFTER ur accepted REALLY EARLY during the last week of january (the earliest ive heard)

im so nervous!

sweet, thanks for the reply

jeez...that REALLY makes me nervous...I NEED a scholarship!!!

has anyone been contacted for a scholarship yet? and one more thing, do all scholarships have interviews? if we are selected for a scholarship that doesn't require an interview, then we won't be contacted, right?

no i havent been contacted yet, but i hope i will! i remember last year ppl got accepted saturday, january 30. today is saturday, but its the 29th...so maybe monday, january 31?? i hope so...

my friend went to USCl ast year as national merit finalist (auto half scholarship)
and he said he wasn't notified till April.....and he had no interview

hey kingroger317, wow, cool- automatic half scholarship w/o interview?? but wow april?? some of us will be hearing next week, hopefully... im a nat'l merit finalist too...

hey guys, how come we havent heard about acceptances/scholarships yet?? last year, select students found out by this time already!!

When I talked to someone in admissions in December she told me that they may not send letters out until the middle of Feb. so there may still be hope for us.

ahh thanks for the hope, jessetfan! i was startin to get ****ed at usc ahaha. well keep up the hope haha

Jessetfan, do you mean to say that all of us will hear about their admission decisions by the end of feb or will only select people who have been chosen for a scholarship interview be notified this early? oh i do hope we get our decisions sooner than april!

I don't think everyone hears by the end of Feb., I know last year decisions were scattered depending on whether or not you were chosen for a scholarship interview. It was scattered from the end of Jan. all the way up to April 1 last year if I remember correctly. I'm not an expert, just another applicant trying to help out, so what I've heard could have easily changed, but I would bet someone on this board would have heard something if letters were out. So keep up the hope anyway, that's what I plan to do until I hear otherwise. Good luck!

I wish their scholarships weren't based so heavily on test scores...that really bites

man i ran out today to my mailbox to see if i had gotten a scholarship interview thing.... no show.... :(

i'm hoping on getting one before march so i can enjoy my senior vacation in peace

from what i know from last year's seniors, some ppl DID get notified at the end of January/beginning of february. these ppl were accepted and a few days later, invited to interview for either the full or half scholarship.

then usc stopped sending out acceptances for a while, and then started again. supposedly there were 3 batches-scholarship candidates first (usually high 1400s-1500s), then the 1400's, and the 1300s and below. so good luck to everyone, as i am still waiting for the mail every day!!

I am waiting too, the woman I talked to in admissions said that they might not start sending out the acceptance letters until Feb., which appears to be the case as no one here has gotten anything yet. I talked to her back in December, though, so things may have changed. I guess if anyone really wanted to they could call the admissions office, I remember some people last year did that because the wait was so intense. I think I'm going to just wait and see and hope like crazy.

generally how much should we expect to get if we have a 1460 and have some alum connections there?
