Is it pretty easy for someone from UNC to meet other students from Duke and other North Carolina colleges? Are they all basically in the same area and do the students usually all hang out in the same place?

Why would you talk to Dookies?
But in seriousness, there’s almost no interaction with other schools unless you’re from in state and are just visiting your friends, in which case you might see them a lot. The schools are far enough apart that you couldn’t just walk or easily bus to go there.

NC state would be a 30 minute? drive but Duke is very accessible by the Robertson bus or a short car trip. I took a couple classes at Duke (you can take one for free a semester), my sister went there and it was very easy to visit.

No, unless you know people at the other schools, you generally don’t interact. My boyfriend goes to Duke, so I’m there quite often and have friends there. The Robertson bus really is the best thing ever. It’s very convenient, but you can’t just go over there to meet people. There aren’t any common hang out places besides maybe Southpoint mall, but you don’t go there to meet people either.

State is a lot less convenient, and I haven’t been there at all. Triangle Transit does go there, but it’s not free. $2 a ride. I don’t know anybody who’s there often at all. It’s much more common for Duke and UNC students to visit each others campuses.

However, there’s really no need to venture off campus to make friends.

NC State is hard - it’s just so far away.

It’s easy to make friends at Duke - the free bus is great and you could take some classes there. There are some clubs that are bigger/better at Duke than at UNC - you’d be more likely to make friends that way.
