It isn't easy for an out of state student to get good financial aid at another state university. Keep in mind the goal of state universities is to provide an affordable education for their state residents. As an out of state student the cost of attendance for michigan is close to 40k. Unless you got a serious 3 point shot, can throw long, rush for fome serious yardard or at the top of the applicant pool, do not expect any money (outside of stafford loans from these schools).

You are very fortunate as your home state Wisconsin has a good state U in madison. This should be your financial safety as an in-state student

He said Michigan State, not Michigan. But it would still be expensive.

Michigan State has a scholarship called the "Honors College Tuition Grant". This is awarded to out of state honors college invitees with an ACT composit of 33 or above on combined score, or 1500 or above on SAT or semifinalist status in National Merit Program.

This grant equalizes tuition and fees to the rate charted Michigan Residents for 4 years and is accompanied by a paid research assistantship.

SO- if you meet any one of these 3 conditions, this would be a substantial discount.

You may also want to look at some of the other Michigan universities. A number of them also have some form of Scholarship that gives the difference between in/out of state

Yeah my grades/act aren't the highest either. Is there a max loan providers give out? Maybe I'll just have to go into massive student loan debt

That's what i'm pretty much hoping to do right now haha. I'm going to an east coast state and i'm from California but I think the experience of going to the school I want to go to and hopefully saving some instead of going to a private will be worth it in the end.
