Mine sounds awkward because it’s all about me and I feel like I’m being a little conceded.

Yeah, ahah. But that’s what it kind of is supposed to be. Raving about your interests and basically your goals.

in the cate school short answers section there is a question

‘if I wore a sign …’

what does that mean.?

what is the purpose of the parent statements? do they play an important role in the application process?

I’ve finished my essays, and I just need to edit them
I thought that Andover’s dream school prompt was very interesting :)

Anyone applying to Choate?

Parent statements do play an important role- who wants to admit a Tiger Mom or helicopter parent’s kid? It’s to provide a more complete pic of the applicant. Nope, not Choate. It’s such a beautiful school though~!

For some schools, in the essay section they have a box for you to write additional information. What are we supposed to write here? I’m not sure whether I have any additional information to write out, but I don’t think I should leave it blank either.

@lkim97 I’m applying to Choate as a repeat freshman

I left mine blank until I realized I had forgotten something in the candidate profile

What essay are you most proud of and why? Just curious.

Lawrenceville, I made it funny, unique, and interesting: best reading you’ve done in the past year

I’m going to have to say my SSAT essay that’s going to Lawrenceville, St. George’s, and Middlesex. It is all about my little sister, who is very mentally delayed, and how she has impacted my life and shaped me as a person. It is very personal, but also very well-written, if I say so myself :)

Hey guys, I was wondering if you had your essays checked over by someone else. By that I mean someone not on CC. I did not do this, as I have submitted most of my essays already, edited on my own. But I am hearing that some people did, and I am feeling somewhat uneasy now. Did you?

@sandol1010 I would suggest for your remaining essays that you get them edited. Get someone else to proof read it and make sure that there are no errors. Do remember to not to let someone completely change your essay. I have had each one of my essays proof read by at least 3 people.

^ Thanks Ivyguy! But by “errors” you mean grammatical right? Because even if I do get my essays revised, I’m not sure there is much to be changed without altering the content and main idea of them.

You may just want an additional person to revise your essay. Just to make sure there aren’t any grammatical or spelling errors. Don’t let them completely alter it, but just have them “tighten it” up a little.

^Ditto! tenchar

PEOPLE APPLYING TO CHOATE! how did you guys split paragraphs on GoChoate, since they said not to use enter/return to separate them? :(

All I did was copy and paste what I had from my computer onto the text boxes. I’m sure they’ll be able to figure it out and I wouldn’t worry about it :)

oh but it removed my paragraphing :(

My essays aren’t going to be seen by any other mortal eyes other than mine before I submit. I’m OCD about grammar/spelling, so that isn’t going to be a problem. Nobody besides the AOs really know what they want… besides, my parents (and everybody else I ask) would be like “QU’EST-ce que voulez-vous que je lise?”

I just submitted my Deerfield and Middlesex applications!!! GAAHHHHH!!!
