How much time did everyone spend on their essays?

So I finally finished my essay for one of my schools (with a Feb deadline)! I'm not completely pleased with how it turned out, but I can't afford to spend anymore time on it, and so... how long did everyone here spend on their essays?

Writing is a craft, just like painting and music, and therefore the more time one spends, well, most likely the better the product!

like 1-2 hours per essay

It took me one hour to jot down points.
Another hour to write the draft.
Then about a week to review it, edit it, etc.

The whole process took around a week. Coming up with ideas took much longer until one afternoon it just hit me!
Good luck with your application.

like, 2 hours an essay.
then thousands of hours of worrying

same with DiveAlive - lol

haha DiveAlive, I’m studying for finals right now but can’t get over worrying about the essay… even though I know I still have more to write!!!

I’m probably going to hang on to it till later in the week so I can go over it one last time…

about 1.5 hours, it’s quality not quantity that’s key,

Lucky me, I spent the the 15th (the deadline for all of my schools) writing my last two essays. Guess what? I spent around 2 hours writing the essay, which turned out awful. Even worse, I accidentally sent in the rough draft which was 100X worse. How’s that for an essay? I’m just planning to get rejected at that school.

i did them during winter break… it took a long time.

I did about two or three a week for several weeks. Each essay I spent a few days on. Though it did vary by essay. I spent a ton of time on my Deerfield essay, while some of the short essays I finished in as little as 1.5 hours. In general, I spent a good 4 hours per essay. (Not in one sitting of course, but if you count prewriting, writing, editing, etc)

I did the basically all of my 3 applications in a week (winter break)…but I worked for most hours of the day straight…let’s just say I didn’t even take off for New Year’s.

About an hour for the prototype, around 2-5 days of total time spent editing and revising. But I was making small changes right up until they were due for most of them.

I really don’t know the amount of time it took me to complete the ~25 essays for all of the schools I applied to, but all that matters is that everything was submitted on time and I’m proud of ALL of my essays. I’m spending the rest of the month recuperating from the intense vacation work days.

I wish I could’ve worked on mine winter break… winter break for me was still convincing my parents to let me apply, researching schools and financial aid and such… I’m going to leave my essay for a few days and go back to it though. Wow 2010 hopeful 25 essays!? Relax until March! Go play in the snow or something :)

I just finished one of my essays for a HADES school. No worries though, I talked to the admission officers and they let me hand it in a little late considering I wasn’t even considering applying to their school until Jan. 12th before a coach called me and told me to apply but i spent at least 5 hours on two dinky essays :/

I’m still having trouble on some short answers can’t seem to get anything written well right now! 5 hours each? good luck though! hope you get it!

no 5 hours total, finished my essays, just finished my apps so all i can now do is wait.

good luck to us all! it’s really scary how march 10 really isn’t that far away now…
